SAT's Results
Children are required by the Government to take Standard Attainment Tests (SATs) at the end of Year 2 (KS1) and Year 6 (KS2). The Grove also chooses to take optional SATs in Years 3, 4, and 5. The school uses these results to monitor progress in Maths and English.
KS1 SATs are national tests in English and Maths.
KS2 SATs are national tests in English, Maths and Science.
Explanation of Key Stage 1 SATs Results
Level 3 represents achievement well above the nationally expected standard for most 7 hear olds.
Level 2 is divided into 3 grades:
- 2A upper part of level
- 2B middle
- 2C lower
Children who achieve 2C may not be progressing well enough to achieve level 4 when they are 11.
Level 1 and W (meaning “working toward level 1) represent below the nationally expected standards for most 7 year olds.

Level 5 represents achievement well above the nationally expected standard for most 11 year olds.
Level 4 represents achievement at the nationally expected standard for most 11 year olds.
Level 3 represents below the nationally expected standard for most 11 year olds.
Level 2B represents achievement at the nationally expected standard for most 7 year olds.
