Children are asked not to arrive before 8.50 am when the doors will be opened and they can come straight into school.  The school can accept no responsibility for children who arrive before this time.

Children start school in the autumn term of the school year in which they have their fifth birthday.  Children who are not yet five may be part-time if parents/carers wish or if the child is finding it difficult to cope with the whole day.  Otherwise children are full-time from their start day including staying for lunch.

The first year in school is Reception, the second year is Year One and the third year is Year Two, up to Year 6 which is the children’s final year at The Grove.  We have six classes in the school with a maximum of 30 children per class in the infant classes.  It is the governing body’s policy to keep class sizes as small as possible and the number of mixed age classes to a minimum.

The school day begins at 8.55 am.  Your child will be officially late if they are not in class by 9.00 am.

Travelling to School

We encourage parents/carers and children to walk or cycle to school.  A cycle storage rack is available.  It is the parents/carers responsibility if their child cycles to school.  We ask that all riders dismount and walk their bicycles safely in the school grounds.  Bicycles are left at their owner’s risk.

We would also ask that dogs are not brought into the school grounds when dropping off or collecting children.

The Grove has a School Travel Plan in place, a copy of which is available from the school office, we are working hard to encourage a healthy lifestyle through this plan.
