Pippa Goodhart—Author of Winnie the Witch

On Wednesday 20th January 2016, children’s author Pippa Goodhart visited us all at The Grove. In the morning she led a whole school assembly, and talked to the children about where she gets her ideas for story writing. She even shared one of the first stories she had ever written which was about a school hamster that she was able to take home from school and look after, he was called Hammy! She then worked with children in Year 2 to generate and shape their ideas to plan a whole class story. The children then used these to create a story map and write their own Winnie the Witch adventures.

During lunchtime, parents of children in Reception and KS1 were invited into school to meet Pippa and have the opportunity to buy some of her books and get them signed. There were lots of parents who did get involved in this so thank you to those who came, we hope you are pleased with your purchase. Mrs Rusted our English Leader purchased a range of books that Pippa has written and these have been signed for us to keep. These are currently displayed in our school library for the children to read.
