The Cambridge Partnership Youth Games

28th June 2016

On Tuesday 28th June, half of our year 3 went to represent The Grove at The Cambridge Partnership Youth Games. We all had a fantastic and very tiring day along with over 400 children from many other schools in and around Cambridge. We worked in four groups competing and trying out different sports from Boccia to Ultimate Frisbee and Athletics to Cheerleading.  We were so impressed with the children’s resilience and energy levels throughout the day; they were a real credit to the school. Our athletics team won a silver medal in the closing ceremony.

Fran Williamson, the Paralympic swimmer who won silver and bronze medals at The Beijing Olympics was also there as was Marvin the Moose, the mascot from Cambridge United. Fran was delighted to meet us and our children, as she is a former pupil of The Grove.  She told us that having initially been terrified of water, she even learnt to swim in our swimming pool!
