Whatever moves you do it for Sport Relief

23rd March 2018

As some of you may be aware, it is Sport Relief week this week 17-23rd March. Sport Relief’s main goal is to improve health and wellbeing in schools around the country, and the lives of people across the world. To support this worthy cause and get the staff and children of The Grove moving, I am asking that on Friday 23rd March 2018, all staff and children come to school dressed in sports clothes and footwear. If you would like to support Sport Relief and help the school raise some money for this charity then a 50p contribution from each child would also be much appreciated.

Over the course of the day, all children along with their teachers and classmates will complete laps on a designated track in the KS2 playground. Staff will then take out each class and track how many laps each child has completed. This means we can then calculate how many meters/ miles the child, class and school have walked, jogged, skipped, wheeled, or run as a whole!

A group distance target is a great way to motivate our children. I wonder if we could collectively run the length of the London Underground (250 miles), or for a real challenge, how about walking to South Africa?!

We also have the opportunity to add our distance covered to the Nation's Billion Steps Challenge. To find out more about this, follow the link below.

As always, thank you in advance for your continued support.
