Reading Cafes

22nd January 2020

Reading Cafe

At The Grove, we believe that reading is an excellent way to relax and escape from the busyness of day-to-day life. Reading time can be a calm pastime and ensures some priceless parent-child time.

Last academic year, we hosted lots of fun ‘Reading-for-Pleasure’ activities to celebrate reading and develop a community of readers. We are delighted to see so many parents and carers attending the reading activities at school including Reading Picnics, Reading Cafes and the school library re-launch, celebrating its restocking with a variety of recently published picture and chapter books, following the Science Park’s generous donation.

This year, we are pleased to announce the reintroduction to the Reading Cafes.

From Wednesday 22nd January, the Reading Cafes will be taking place every week from 8.45-9.00 throughout the school. Your child’s classroom doors will be open for you, the parent/carers to come in and read with your child for 15 minutes. Children can bring books in from home to share these with their peers and parents should feel free to bring their own reading materials (in case, they want to share them with other parents!). We ask that you do not enter the main body of the school but remain in your child’s classroom, exiting only through the classroom pods. Please can bikes be left at the front of the school, as Mr Kingsford will be locking the gates just before 9am.

The Reading Cafés are a wonderful opportunity to continue to build our school’s reading community and the teachers and staff are looking forward to seeing you at 8:45am on Wednesday 22nd January.
